Last chance to register for December Workshop!

Nov 30, 2007 in Announcement

Keep Writing Through the Holidays starts Monday. It looks like this is going to be a very small class, which translates into an excellent opportunity for writers to get personal attention and comments from our presenters—Kate Rothwell, Flo Fitzpatrick and Teresa Bodwell. To register, fill in our Contact form with the word Holiday and we’ll take care of the rest.

Keep writing through the holidays!

Nov 28, 2007 in Announcement, Teresa Bodwell

If you’re one of those disciplined writers who completes your pages every day come heck or high water, you need read no further.

On the other hand, if you’re like me–a mere mortal who is distracted by family, work and outside events. If you’re someone who finds it difficult to write in December with everything that happens in that busy month (and snow-shoveling besides). We have the workshop for you.

Keep Writing Through the Holidays will give you a weekly deadline to turn in 2500 words (that’s 500 words a day for 5 days). Your reward for meeting your deadline is thoughtful and positive comments from two published authors–Teresa Bodwell and Flo Fitzpatrick are your Athena Critique Services facilitators and Kate Rothwell who also writes as Summer Devon is our special guest.

Flo is in the process of moving and may not be with us every week, so Kate has offered to fill in. This guarantees that you will have comments from at least 2 published authors every week. The fee for 4 weeks is $40. To register, simply fill in the Contact form. Mention the Holiday workshop and let us know how you would like to pay (PayPal, check or money order).

Hope to see you there!

You get to know your characters and they will tell you their story. If you don’t spend time with those dudes, that magic just doesn’t happen.

Writing tip: Setting the Pace

Nov 19, 2007 in Teresa Bodwell, Writing Tip

Pacing is one of those writing words that people hear. Intuitively we know that pacing refers to the rate the story moves forward. When we talk about a book as “a real page turner” we often mean the book is fast-paced.

Is fast pace necessarily better? (more…)
